To kick off the new year- I am working on my next series called “building a brick”, that will debuting at design matters in west LA this February.
Trash
The Concept of the show is to bring the attention of repurposed materials as an alternative substrate source to canvas and panels. It is an economic and eco-friendly solution to the contemporary predicaments artists are dealing with today.
Wood panels and canvas are the two substrates that have dominated the art world since the dark ages. So why would you want to paint on anything else?
Well canvas and panels are expensive. The cheapest canvas comes from China (slave labor and shipping), the best comes from Belgium (shipping) and
panels are made of wood and wood comes from trees.
Transport us now to the modern utopian consumer paradise of 2011. People are always looking for new stuff and abandoning the old stuff. Every trash day there is a coffee table, a chair a couple doors. Why spend money on a new canvas or panels when you can reclaim sufaces for free?

Come out and celebrate monster and beer!!!!
Living in a metropolitan area I am constantly sighting the homeless. They have crept into my thoughts with one encounter after another. One day, avoiding eye contact while reading a “Help” sign, I began to day dream. How did they get to where they are? It seems like this guy is already qualified for a job. What would I create if I was homeless? This is how it began.
Now I invite you to come and see where it has gone. I hope you can make this opening for my solo show “Tales from Skid Row” at the wonderful gallery that is called Rothick Art Haus.

Crewest and L. Croskey/Cannibal Flower would like to present “Eye to Eye” - a group show that finds graffiti artists and painters playing on common ground through the shared aesthetic principles of movement, color, and energy. This eclectic group of artists can evoke the visceral energy of a full burner within a gallery setting. It is not about graffiti, it is about the emotion of graffiti. The artists listed are all local Angelenos, some recognized, and some that deserve recognition, the latter being another purpose of this show – to introduce into the scene some new talent; to shed some new light into the walls.
